Canistrelli - Tuesdays with Dorie

These little cookies that Dorie describes as "homey and rustic in every way" were the second of our August baking projects from the book, Baking Chez Moi.

Made with olive oil instead of butter and flavoured with white wine and an anise or licorice-flavoured liqueur, they weren't too sweet, just sweet enough, and had a mild but noticeable anise flavour. They also had great texture, crunchy, with an almost flakey interior.

I'm quite partial to baked goods that aren't very sweet and I do like anise so I really enjoyed them.

Visit TWD to see what everyone else made.

I loved these! I didn’t hope for much given they looked and sounded so plain, but they are terrific!!
